Onuki stammt genau wie Okazaki aus dem kriminellen Milieu und will nach dessen Rückkehr wissen, ob er weiterhin den Verpflichtungen seiner Gang gegenüber nachkommen wird. Es gefällt ihm und angeblich auch einigen anderen nämlich nicht, dass er ihr Geld für persönliche Zwecke eingesetzt hat. Außerdem konfrontiert er ihn damit, dass nun er sich um Kaori Yukimura kümmert, was Okazaki aber kalt lässt, da er vorgibt, sich nie wirklich für sie interessiert zu haben. Onukis Versuche, ihn zu provozieren, schlagen allesamt fehl, während sein Neid auf Okazaki immer weiter wächst, da er sich wegen dessen schnellen Aufstieg selbst übergangen fühlt. Er scheut auch nicht davor zurück, eine Wanze im Büro vom Boss anzubringen um hinter dessen Verbindung zu Okazaki zu kommen, begibt sich damit aber auf gefährliches Terrain, ohne dass ihm so recht bewusst ist, wie tief er sich bereits in Schwierigkeiten gebracht hat.
