Coach Sasabe war der ehemalige Coach des Schwimmteams von Haru, Rin, Nagisa und Makoto in der Grundschule. Nach einem Wiedersehen mit Makoto kommt es dazu, dass er dem jetzigem Schwimmteam abermals als Coach beiseite steht. Er arbeitet Teilzeit als Pizzalieferant.
Seine Persönlichkeit wirkt freundlich und wenn es ums Schwimmen geht, trainiert er seine Schüler streng und mit sehr viel Ehrgeiz.
