Bisher war es Shark nicht gewohnt, sich einem anderen Kämpfer wirklich fügen zu müssen, denn die wandernden Boxer nahmen einvernehmlich die schauspielerische Darbietung in den Kämpfen an. Mit Joe kommt aber jemand, der nicht bereit dazu ist. Gegen ihn hat Shark auch keine Chance, sodass er zum einen nicht gegen ihn wirklich kämpfen möchte, da er nicht schwer verletzt werden will, und zum anderen fügt er sich ihm, wenn Joe sich etwas wünscht - beispielsweise überlässt er Joe den Fernseher.
