Im Gegensatz zu seiner Frau hat er den Tod seines Sohnes weit besser verkraften können und versucht nun einfach weiterzuleben und wieder Freude am Leben zu haben. Obwohl er das Verhalten seiner Frau für gewöhnungsbedürftig hält, unterstützt er sie in jeglichem Maße, selbst wenn das der Familie als Ganzes eher schadet. Spurlos geht diese Situation an ihm jedoch nicht vorüber und er betäubt seinen Kummer verstärkt mit Alkohol.
