Kumiko lernte Tetsurou kennen als dieser beinahe von einem Zug angefahren wurde und rettete noch rechtzeitig sein Leben. So genau weiß sie selber nicht so genau, wie sie sich in den wesentlich älteren Tetsurou verlieben könnte, da ihr letzter Freund sehr gutaussehend gewesen ist. Sie glaubt allerdings, dass es aus einer Kombination aus der Trennung von ihrem Freund und Tetsurous berüchtigtem Hundeblick resultiert. Kumiko liebt ihn aufrichtig, jedoch fehlt ihr die Bindung zu seiner Berufung, dem Filmemachen. Sie kennt sich mit der Materie weder aus noch hat sie selber großes Interesse daran. Als er sich wenig später eine Neue sucht, nimmt sie es deshalb einfach so hin.
