Seit dem tragischen Tod seiner Frau und seinem Sohn, sowie Tsubaki, die ins Koma gefallen ist, kümmert sich Tomoko Tsuda sehr aufopferungsvoll um Kihachi Kusumi. In all der Zeit ist er ihr sehr ans Herz gewachsen und leidet geradezu mit, dass sich die Situation für ihn nicht bessern will. Ganz im Gegenteil, vor einiger Zeit wurde bei ihm Krebs festgestellt, der nicht geheilt werden kann. So gerne sie ihm auch helfen würde, kann sie einfach nichts für ihn tun, was sie noch trauriger macht.
