Wie Masayas Halbschwester Asuka, besucht auch Maki die örtliche Highschool. Anders als diese scheint sie allerdings nicht sonderlich viel für den Neuankömmling auf der Insel übrig zu haben und macht daraus auch kein sonderlich großes Geheimnis. Überhaupt besitzt sie eine sehr direkte und barsche Persönlichkeit, die es nicht besonders leicht macht ihr näher zu kommen. Allerdings ist dieses Verhalten zum Teil auch nur eine Fassade, da es ihr sichtlich schwer fällt ihre wahren Gefühle zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Wie so viele andere Frauen der Insel, gehört auch Maki zu jenen, die Masaya nachts heimsuchen und wie man sich denken kann, ändert sich auch dort kaum etwas an ihrem Verhalten. Wenn Maki nicht gerade in der Schule ist, kann man sie übrigens des Öfteren am Strand antreffen, ist sie doch eine begeisterte Surferin und genießt es sich in die Wellen zu stürzen.
