Logicoma ist eine Abkürzung für „Logistics Conveyer Machine“. Kusanagi bekommt eine solche Einheit, die eigentlich als veraltet gelten, von Chief Aramaki aus Sektion 9 zugeteilt, stellt aber direkt fest, dass er noch nicht mal Sprach-Software aufgespielt hat, sondern mit Signallichtern kommuniziert. Kusanagi installiert daher als erstes ein Sprachpaket, damit der Logicoma Informationen verbal weitergeben kann, denn sich mit ihm zu verbinden hat sie vorerst nicht vor. Sie erhält über ihn aber weitere Instruktionen im Fall Mamuro Giichi.

Logicomas verfügen wie die späteren Tachikomas über eine optische Camouflage, also eine Tarnvorrichtung und funktionieren nach demselben Prinzip der geteilten Intelligenz, d.h. sie synchronisieren sich untereinander ständig um die (Lern-)Erfahrungen einer Einheit sofort an die Gruppe weiterzugeben. Daher wurde ihnen auch eine hohe Lernbegierde einprogrammiert, die ihre User allerdings manchmal als nervig empfinden.
