Kinkaku ist ein Waisenkind und hat nur noch seinen jüngeren Zwillingsbruder, Ginkaku, der ihm allerdings gar nicht ähnlich sieht. Überzeugt davon seinen Bruder zu beschützen, ist er auf der Suche nach bösen Menschen und Yokai, um diese zu Richten und mithilfe einer magischen Flasche zu töten. Er fühlt dabei weder Schuld noch Skrupel, denn da es sich schließlich um schlechte Leute handelt, glaubt er fest daran, dass sie es verdient haben und da er in erster Linie nur die Sicherheit seines Bruders im Kopf hat, unterdrückt er mögliche Schuldgefühle.
