Aki Koganei ist eine Kundin des Restaurant »Yukihira«, die das Essen dort liebt. Sie hat das 489. Kochduell zwischen Jouichirou und seinem Sohn Souma miterlebt, in dem der Vater seinen Sohn ein weiteres Mal besiegte.

Als Freundin von Mayumi Kurase, die oft ein Opfer von Soumas Tentakel-Rezepten wird, sagt sie ihm gehörig ihre Meinung, dass er das nicht mit ihrer besten Freundin tun kann. Allerdings konnte sie das »Yukihira« schließlich – nachdem die ersten zwei Monate von Soumas Oberschulzeit verstrichen waren, in der er jeden Tag im Restaurant arbeitete – einige Jahre nicht mehr besuchen, da Souma an die Kochschule Teehaus Toutsuki in das Polarstern Wohnheim ging, während sein Vater im Ausland als Koch arbeitete.
