Saishu ist der Hauptpriester eines kleinen Dorfes, das Ginko durchquert. Er kümmert sich nicht nur um die zeremoniellen Feierlichkeiten innerhalb des Dorfes, sondern ist darüber hinaus auch noch der Bewahrer der sogenannten »Göttlichen Zähne«, die jedoch nur er sehen kann, sobald sie aus dem Mund einer Person heraus gefallen sind. Zwar ist Saishu bewusst, dass die Ernten in seinem Dorf recht ungewöhnlich sind, er schiebt dieses aber auf ihre verbesserten Wachstums- und Erntemethoden, anstatt auf irgendeinen Hokuspokus, wobei Ginko schnell klar wird, dass Saishu mehr weiß, als er anfangs preisgibt.

Saishu ist der Titel eines Shintoschrein-Hauptpriesters.
