Gemeinsam mit seinen drei Freunden reist er durch die Welt, mit dem Vorwand, die amoklaufenden Yokai zu bekämpfen. Doch diese Aufgabe machen sie nicht als irgendwer, sondern sie geben sich als die berühmten und überall verehrten Genjo Sanzo und seine drei Gefährten aus, um in deren Ruhm zu glänzen.
Er selbst hat dabei die Rolle von Cho Hakkai übernommen und liebt seine Rolle, vor allem den Ruhm der ihnen entgegenkommt, über alles. Er ist wie ein Stehaufmännchen und lässt sich von nichts unterkriegen.
