Der Asket Egan ist ein gewissenhafter und ernster Gott des Himmels. Seine Aufgabe liegt in der Beobachtung und Meldung von Veränderungen auf der Ende. Bei einer seiner Beobachtungen stieß er auf einen verwahrlosten Jungen, Son Goku, der unkontrolliert auf der Erde wütete. Nachdem er mithilfe eines goldenen Diadem die Kräfte des Jungen eindämmte, brachte Egan ihn in den Himmel, um ihn vor Kanzeon Bosatsu zu führen, damit über dessen Schicksal entschieden werden kann.
Egan ist eigentlich eine sehr freundliche Person, doch nachdem er das wahre Wesen von Goku erlebt hat und ihn als Ketzer entlarvt hat, kann er diesem keine Freundlichkeit mehr entgegen bringen.
