Rester ist die Nummer Zwei der SPK, eine amerikanische Sondereinheit, die »Kira« fassen will. Sein Hauptaufgabenfeld liegt in den Ermittlungen vor Ort. Ein besonders guter Charakterzug von Anthony ist seine Ehrlichkeit und man kann sich immer auf ihn verlassen.

Dennoch ist er intellektuell Near unterlegen, aber seine ruhige Art und seine physische Stärke machen ihn zu einem kompetenten Mitarbeiter der SPK. Für Near agiert er mehr oder weniger als Bodyguard.
