Gino arbeitet als Artist im Wanderzirkus Circo de Chocolate, möchte den Beruf jetzt allerdings an den Nagel hängen, da seine Freundin Natalia schwanger geworden ist, die in Perna lebt. Zwar ist ihm bewusst, dass schon seit langem seine viel jüngere Zirkuspartnerin Rita Ozzetti in ihn verliebt ist, allerdings drückt er sich vor der Verantwortung für klare Verhältnisse zwischen beiden zu sorgen. Er macht eher den Eindruck eines sorglosen Lebemanns, der nur schwer mit etwaigen Problematiken umgehen kann und schlichtweg diesbezüglich überfordert erscheint. Dabei obliegt eigentlich ihm die Hauptverantwortung für Rita.
