Forest ist ein ehemaliger auf Okinawa stationierter Marine, und Stammgast in Georges Kneipe, wo er oft noch als letzter einige Drinks nimmt, bis ihn George dann früh morgens doch hinaus befördern muss. Er möchte den Krieg und seine Vergangenheit vergessen und wünscht sich irgendwann all das hinter sich zu lassen und in seiner Heimat ein neues Leben beginnen zu können.

Er trägt jedoch das Blut eines Chiropteran in sich und verwandelt sich nach und nach in einen solchen, und zwar vom Typ 1, der einfachsten Form, die nach der vollständigen Transformation nur noch ihrem Instinkt folgen. Da er nicht weiß, wie ihm geschieht, sucht er bei Personen, die ihm nahe stehen, nach Hilfe, zuerst bei George, später bei seiner Freundin Reimi.
