In seinem Amt als Sheriff der Stadt Gloria kommt Mabo nicht umhin, auch mal Trunkenbolde ins Kittchen zu verfrachten, selbst wenn es sich dabei um die Helden seiner Kindheit, Nero, Jose, Barrio und Carlos, handelt. Es schmerzt ihn sehr, dass die alten Leute nicht mehr respektiert werden, er fleht sie aber auch an, nicht ständig auf Konfrontationskurs mit der neuen Generation zu gehen, weil die nun mal die Zeit, als sie noch gemeinsam die Armor »El Dorado« steuerten, nicht selbst erlebt haben.
