Nachdem Kiriko einige der Sitzungen zwischen ihrem Stiefbruder Seiichi und ihrer Mutter Rin beobachtet hatte, begann sie ebenfalls eine Leidenschaft für diese Praktiken zu entwickeln und reißt daher von zu Hause aus, weil sie Seiichi dazu bringen möchte, dass er an ihr dasselbe Training vollzieht wie an Rin. Darüber hat sie sich mit ihrer Mutter verkracht und auch Seiichi hat erhebliche Zweifel, da er in ihr trotz der Tatsache, dass sie nicht blutsverwandt sind, zuallererst seine kleine Schwester sieht (wobei er ähnliche Bedenken zunächst auch bei Rin hatte). Kiriko verhält sich in vielen Belangen noch unreif und patzig wie ein Kind, ist aber dennoch fest entschlossen sich von ihrer Mutter nicht abhalten zu lassen; es stachelt sie ihm Gegenteil sogar noch an, dass Rin derart vehement dagegen ist.
