Da der Sergeant jegliche Form von Emotionen missen lässt, wie er es insbesondere vor drei Jahren unter Beweis gestellt hat, als außer ihm sein ganzes Platoon ums Leben gekommen ist, wird er nur noch mit dem ihm gegebenen Spitznamen »Ghost« angesprochen. Drei Jahre später ist er verantwortlich für eine Mission höchster Priorität, die nach den Richtlinien des Cole Protocol durchgeführt werden soll; d.h. die Vernichtung wichtiger Daten und Materialien bevor sie in die Hände des Feindes fallen. Auch hier zeigt sich Ghost wieder mal von seiner rücksichtslosen Seite und lässt eine Handvoll Soldaten gegen die anrückenden Truppen des Feindes kämpfen, doch gewisse Ereignisse vor drei Jahren haben seine Einstellung grundlegend geändert.
