CARLSEN Verlag GmbH is a German publishing house founded by Per Hjald Carlsen on the 25th April 1953. The headquarters are in Hamburg.

In the beginning, the company was a subsidiary of the Danish Illustrationsforlaget/PIB. Currently, the publishing house is a subsidiary of the Norwegian media company Bonnier AB.

The first publications were the “Pixi” books in 1954. Later, the first albums of the “The Adventures of Tintin” series followed in 1967. The first manga publication was the “Dragon Ball” series; the Carlsen Manga imprint was launched at the same time.

CARLSEN Verlag GmbH ist ein deutsches Verlagshaus, das am 25. April 1953 von Per Hjald Carlsen gegründet wurde. Der Hauptsitz befindet sich in Hamburg.

Zu Beginn war das Unternehmen ein Tochterunternehmen des dänischen Illustrationsforlaget/PIB. Zurzeit ist der Verlag ein Tochterunternehmen des norwegischen Medienunternehmens Bonnier AB.

Die ersten Veröffentlichungen waren die »Pixi«-Bücher im Jahr 1954. Später folgten im Jahr 1967 die ersten Alben der »Tim und Struppi«-Serie. Die erste Manga-Veröffentlichung war die Serie »Dragon Ball«; gleichzeitig damit wurde das Imprint Carlsen Manga lanciert.
