Der Manga stellt eine Adaption des 1909 erschienenen Romans „Anne in Avonlea“ von Lucy Maud Montgomery dar und ist die Fortsetzung des 1908 erschienenen Romans „Anne auf Green Gables“.
Der Roman schildert die Lebensjahre 16 bis 18 der Anne Shirley.

Anne Shirley beginnt mit 16 an der Schule von Avonlea zu unterrichten. In den zwei Jahren als Lehrerin erlebt sie die Vorzüge und Schattenseiten als Lehrkraft, übernimmt einen Teil der Erziehung der Zwillinge Davy und Dora und organisiert eine Vereinigung, die mit zweifelhaften Ergebnissen das Dorf Avonlea zu verbessern versucht.
