Die Geschichte von Hantsuki handelt von der aufkeimenden Beziehung zwischen dem siebzehnjährigen Yuuichi Ezaki und Rika Akiba, die beide in das Krankenhaus in Yuuichis Heimatstadt eingewiesen wurden. Während Yuuichi an Hepatitis A leidet, welche durch ausreichend Bettruhe geheilt werden kann, besitzt Rika ein Herzleiden, welches wenig Aussicht auf Besserung bietet, zumal sie eine riskante Operation ablehnt. Als die beiden nun Zeit miteinander verbringen, beginnen sie sich ineinander zu verlieben.
