Nachdem ihre Eltern verschwanden, kam Azuma in die Obhut ihres Onkels. Dort wird sie misshandelt, was das Alice-im-Wunderland-Syndrom bei ihr auslöst. Sie sieht in Spiegelbildern Dinge, die eigentlich nicht dort zu sehen sein sollten. So wird aus den Oberflächen von Spiegeln, Wasserflächen oder Gläsern ein wahrer Albtraum für das Mädchen.
