»Kachou Kousaku Shima« ist der Beginn einer Reihe von japanischen Mangas, die sich um Kousaku Shima dreht, einen fiktiven japanischen Büroangestellten, der sich in der Firma Hatsushiba Electric täglich seiner Arbeit widmet.

Zu Beginn dieser langlaufenden Serie ist Kousaku Shima ein Abteilungsleiter von Hatsushiba Electric, später wird er zum Bereichsleiter befördert, bevor er die auch die restliche Karriereleiter im Unternehmen nach oben klettert und zum Geschäftsführer, verantwortlichen Direktor und schließlich zum Generaldirektor der Firma wird. Mit jeder Beförderung ändert sich der Titel der Geschichte, und der letzte Titel ist »Shachou Shima Kousaku« (dt.: »Präsident Kousaku Shima«).

Die Reihe gewann den 15. »Kodansha Manga Award« im Jahr 1991 im allgemeinen Bereich (zusammen mit »Akujo«).
