JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean (1999)

Like father, like daughter? Things are not that simple in the case of Jolyne Cujoh: because she is accused of a murder she did not commit and then betrayed by her lawyer, she is now to serve a 15-year sentence in Green Dolphin Street Prison – the same prison her father Joutarou was incarcerated once. With the help of a strange pendant that Jolyne got her hands on shortly before, she can now manifest her stand: Stone Free. Thanks to it, she can cut not inconsiderable parts of her body into threads and manipulate them freely.

While Jolyne gets used to her new ability and becomes the target of her cellmate Gwess, Joutarou doesn’t just accept the situation and wants to help his daughter out. She, in turn, soon receives help from the strange boy Emporio Alniño, whose mother was killed by a booth user, and from Ermes Costello, who wants to avenge her sister’s murderer in prison.

Jolyne soon realises that she is only the scapegoat in a real conspiracy. Her father is also drawn into it, and so his daughter and her new allies must take action against the string-puller, whose plans could have far-reaching consequences …

Wie der Vater, so die Tochter? So einfach ist die Sache im Falle von Jolyne Cujoh allerdings nicht: Weil sie für einen Mord, den sie nicht begangen hat, angeklagt und dann von ihrem Anwalt verraten wird, soll sie nun eine 15-jährige Haftstrafe im Green-Dolphin-Street-Gefängnis verbüßen – im gleichen Gefängnis, in dem auch ihr Vater Joutarou einst einsaß. Mithilfe eines seltsamen Anhängers, den Jolyne kurz zuvor in ihre Finger bekam, kann sie jetzt ihren Stand manifestieren: Stone Free; dank diesem kann sie nicht unerhebliche Teile ihres Körpers in Fäden zerlegen und frei manipulieren.

Während Jolyne sich an die neue Fähigkeit gewöhnt und auch erst mal zum Ziel ihrer Zellengenossin Gwess wird, nimmt Joutarou die Situation nicht einfach hin und will seiner Tochter aus der Patsche helfen. Die wiederum erhält bald Hilfe vom seltsamen Jungen Emporio Alniño, dessen Mutter durch einen Standnutzer getötet wurde, und von Ermes Costello, die im Gefängnis Vergeltung am Mörder ihrer Schwester üben will.

Jolyne erkennt bald, dass sie nur der Sündenbock in einer regelrechten Verschwörung ist. In diese wird auch ihr Vater hineingezogen, und so müssen seine Tochter und ihre neuen Verbündeten gegen den Strippenzieher vorgehen, dessen Pläne weitreichend Folgen haben könnten …

Stavolta JoJo è una ragazza a tutti gli effetti: Jolyne Kujo è figlia di Jotaro, e le vicende che la riguardano avvengono nel 2011, dietro le sbarre del penitenziario di Green Dolphin Street dove è detenuta. Il Confessore padre Pucci, che ambisce al Paradiso, ha messo gli occhi su di lei, tessendo una trama oscura che finirà con lo sconvolgere l’intero universo di JoJo, tra spettacolari scontri a colpi di “Stand” e un finale davvero imprevedibile.
