Der junge Professor Hirotaka Takaoka ist stets in seine Arbeit an der Universität vertieft und nimmt sich kaum Zeit für das Liebesleben. Zwar organisiert seine Mutter ihm fortwährend Treffen mit potenziellen Heiratskandidatinnen, doch der Funke scheint nie so richtig überspringen zu wollen. Entnervt verdonnert sie Hirotaka schließlich dazu, sich selbst mit der Partneragentur in Verbindung zu setzen. Widerwillig fügt sich der Wissenschaftler seinem Schicksal und stattet der Agentur einen Besuch ab. Er trifft dort auf den beherzten Angestellten Akira Yoshizawa, der fortan seine Dates organisiert. Bald schon wird Hirotaka allerdings klar, dass ihm viel mehr am jungen Akira als an den Kandidatinnen liegt, die dieser ihm vorschlägt …
