Nachdem die 9-jährige Melmo ihre Mutter bei einem Autounfall verlor, muss sie ganz alleine für ihre zwei jüngeren Brüder sorgen. Diese Aufgabe fordert viel zu hohe Ansprüche für ein Mädchen in ihrem Alter. Eines Tages trifft sie den Geist ihrer Mutter und erhält von ihr eine Flasche mit Wundersüßigkeiten. Es gibt zwei Sorten: blaue Bonbon und roter Bonbon. Der blaue kann sie in eine erwachsene Person verwandeln und der rote wieder in ein Kleinkind. Wenn sie eine Mischung aus beiden nimmt, kann sie sich in ein beliebiges Tier ihrer Vorstellung verwandeln. Und mit diesen neuen Wundersüßigkeiten löst sie nun ihre Probleme und versucht für ihre beiden Brüder zu sorgen.
