In der vom Krieg zerrütteten Stadt Tokyo leben nun Menschen und Dämonen zusammen. Der Frieden ist jedoch sehr labil und könnte jederzeit brechen. Allerdings verlieren einige Dämonen nach und nach die Kontrolle über sich und fangen an, sich wieder ihrer gewalttätigen Persönlichkeit zu beugen und andere Lebewesen zu töten. Eine mysteriöse Droge namens Zone-00 scheint dahinter zu stecken. Jetzt können nur noch zwei jungen Studenten, ein Dämon und ein Mensch, den Frieden bewahren, indem sie diese geheimnisvollen Vorfälle aufklären.
