Il passato. Un’agenzia segreta di ricerca conosciuta come E.C.S. svolgeva esperimenti genetici atroci su cavie umane al fine di riprodurre in laboratorio il gene Zero, ovvero il gene che sta alla base dei poteri ESP. Era l’anno 1961, e il più potente degli ESPer, l’unico dotato di gene ZERO fin dalla nascita, con un solo attacco distrugge la sede dell’E.C.S e sconfigge i 100 combattenti ESPer che erano posti a protezione del centro. Il presente. L’agenzia segreta E.C.S. in seguito alla fusione con la filiale coreana risorge, ma con un diverso scopo: non più la sperimentazione senza scrupoli sugli ESPer, ma la loro salvaguardia. Due agenti dell’E.C.S. di Tokyo si mettono alla ricerca dei figli di quello ZERO sample dagli immensi poteri che aveva causato in passato la distruzione della loro stessa agenzia.
