Die 16-jährige Mia ist die Kronprinzessin eines Landes, in dem die Bewohner nach sadistisch (S) oder masochistisch (M) kategorisiert sind. Nur Mia und ihre Mutter, die Königin, gehören zur Kategorie S, alle Untertanen sind M und lieben es, unterdrückt zu werden. Entsprechend besteht Mias Alltag daraus, ihre Untertanen zu quälen, wobei sie sich stets darum bemüht, ihrer Mutter eine würdige Nachfolgerin zu werden. Doch da sie aus Familientradition für ein Jahr ins Ausland muss, verändert sich ihr ganzes Leben, weil es in Japan keine Kategorisierung nach S und M gibt.
