In Boys Be… geht es um das tägliche Schulleben von sechs Klassenkameraden: Die drei Jungs Kyoichi Kanzaki (der Künstler), Makoto Kurumizawa (der Computerfreak) und Yoshihiko Kenjou (der Baseball-Star) sowie die drei Mädchen Chiharu Nitta (die Leichtathletin), Aki Mizutani (die Fotografin) und Yumi Kazama (das Mädchen mit der Brille).
