Aus dem Stein einer Bergblume wird Son Goku geboren, der nicht nur leichtfertig ist, sondern darüberhinaus auch über mysteriöse Kräfte verfügt. Er wird zum König der Affen und schon bald sehr aktiv. Doch als er im Himmelreich über die Stränge schlägt, wird er von Buddha in einem Berg versiegelt. 500 Jahre später wird er vom reisenden Mönch Sanzo befreit und er begleitet ihn nach Indien. Die Reise in den Westen nimmt seinen Lauf.
