Jinki ist die Geschichte um die Hauptperson Aoba. Sie ist ein einsames Mädchen, das hervorragend im Modellbau von Robotern ist. Eines Tages wird sie von ihrer Mutter in den Jungel Südamerikas entführt, wo eine Organisation genannt »Engel« einen Roboter vorbereiten. Dieser Roboter wird Kampfroboter Moribito Nummer 2 (»Der Beschützer«) genannt und wird im Kampf gegen antike »jinki« (»menschliche Maschinen«) eingesetzt.
