Description
The main character is Leonora, the daughter of an impoverished noble of Padua. She is a beautiful silver-haired, emerald-green-eyed girl and very good at fighting with the sword. One day, she is forced to marry an arrogant young noble, but she discovers on the day of their wedding that this man intends to use her to become king of Italy because she is involved in an ancient Italian legend. There exists a legend that tells whoever gets the legendary sword "Emerald Lion" will unite and rule over Italy. And the secret hiding-place of the sword can be found with "Kakan no Madonna" In order to find out the truth of the portrait’s secret related her and to hide her identity,Leonara disguises herself as a black-haired boy, Leo, and sets out to find DaVinci.

La joven Leonora es la viva imagen de la mujer retratada en el cuadro de Leonardo da Vinci "La madona de la corona de flores" y el cuadro es la pista clave para encontrar la espada divina que convertirá a su poseedor en rey de Italia. Un noble se casa con ella por ese motivo, pero Leonora lo descubre en su noche de bodas. Sin pensarlo dos veces, escapa con el cuadro, se corta y se tiñe el pelo, se viste con ropas de hombre y escapa en busca del maestro da Vinci. Éste es, junto con Kanon, uno de los títulos de referencia de la obra de la productiva Chiho Saito, la afamada autora de Utena, la chica revolucionaria.

Leonora, figlia di un nobile di Padova caduto in disgrazia, è una bella ragazza dai capelli d’argento, occhi verde smeraldo e che è molto brava a combattere con la spada. Lei è costretta a sposare un nobile giovane ed arrogante ma, il giorno del loro matrimonio, scopre come quest’uomo abbia intenzione di sfruttarla per diventare re d’Italia: Leonara è la ragazza rappresentata in un dipinto di Leonardo Da Vinci (La Madonna della ghirlanda), ed esiste una leggenda che racconta come solo tramite La Madonna della ghirlanda sia possibile risalire al nascondiglio segreto della "Spada di Smeraldo", arma che consentirebbe al suo possessore di governare l’Italia. Leonora al fine di scoprire la verità sul ritratto, fugge travestendosi da ragazzo, mettendosi sulle tracce del DaVinci. Lungo la strada incontra Falco, il bello e ambizioso re di Napoli che, ignaro della sua vera identità di ragazza, la assumerà come suo servo...
