Description

2300 years ago in China there existed a clan called the men of Bokk trained to aid and defend threatened cities with their lives. Kakuri, one of these men, is summoned to the little city of Ryo. Distrusted and even hated, Kakuri eventually gains the trust of Ryo’s citizens as Tcho empire’s vast army sets their camp on the other side of the river.

Vor 2300 Jahren existierte in China ein Clan namens Bokk. Hier wurden Krieger ausgebildet, die es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht haben, die Menschen zu beschützen. Kakuri ist einer dieser Krieger. Seine neue Aufgabe ist es, die Menschen der Stadt Ryo zu beschützen, doch begegnet man ihm mit Misstrauen. In dieser Zeit ist Misstrauen Gift, der für beide Seiten den Untergang bedeuten kann, denn das Imperium von Tcho rückt näher und droht, die Stadt zu unterwerfen.

Bokko, historia encuadrada en un contexto histórico real conocido como el período de los reinos combatientes de la antigua China, narra las peripecias de Mo Jia, una organización de tipo religioso-militar fundada por Mo Zi. Sus miembros, los Mo Zhe, defensores acérrimos de la paz, siguiendo las enseñanzas pacifistas de Mo Zi, y versados en las artes militares de carácter defensivo, acudían a la llamada de socorro de diversas ciudades asediadas por los ejércitos de los distintos reinos.
El primer capítulo comienza con el acoso del reino de Zhao a la pequeña ciudad fortificada de Liang, cuyos dirigentes recurren a Mo Jia en solicitud de ayuda. Un Mo Zhe acudirá a la ciudad: Ge Li. Éste será quién dirija, no sin salvar el orgulloso recelo de su casta gobernante, el sino de la ciudad y congregue los ánimos de sus habitantes de cara a una lucha sin cuartel para repeler el ataque de las temibles huestes de Zhao. El discurrir emocional de los campesinos convocados para la lucha, las filias y fobias que Ge Li suscita entre la aristocracia dirigente y sus súbditos, la brutalidad, así como la heroicidad inherentes a la cruda y triste realidad de la guerra… Todo está magistralmente relatado con ritmo trepidante a lomos de un dibujo tan sobrio como rotundo.
