Wir befinden uns im Jahr 2023 (±1). Ende des 20ten Jahrhunderts wütete eine globale Pandemie. Japan war eines der betroffensten Länder und litt zusätzlich an einem Mangel an Platz, um seinen Müll zu deponieren, und einem Mangel an Nahrungsmitteln. Doch im Jahr 2002 machten japanische Bioingenieure eine Entdeckung. Unter dieser Bio Meat oder abgekürzt BM genannten Entwicklung versteht die Bevölkerung genetisch verändertes Schlachtvieh, das mit Müll gemästet werden kann. Jedoch handelt es sich um einen völlig neuartigen, künstlichen Organismus. Als ein Erdbeben die BM-Fabrik der Stadt Tokio beschädigt, können einige Exemplare fliehen. Deren körperliche Eigenschaften stellen eine Gefahr für Leib und Leben dar. Der Manga verfolgt eine Gruppe Schüler, die versucht, zu überleben.
