Miki ist nicht gerade gut darin sich mit anderen zu verständigen und es fehlt ihr besonders an Selbstvertrauen und Durchsetzungsvermögen. Seit sieben Jahren kümmert sie sich aufopfernd um ihren Freund, der jedoch keinen Gedanken daran verschwendet, sie zu heiraten oder mit ihr zusammen zu ziehen. Mittlerweile fühlt sie sich wie ein Vogel im Goldkäfig. Ihr Leben ändert sich, als sie Kamatani trifft. Er nimmt kein Blatt vor den Mund und dringt ungefragt in ihre Privatsphäre ein, doch hilft er ihr auch, wenn sie in Schwierigkeiten steckt. Langsam aber sicher wird Miki bewusst, wie sehr sie sich zu ihm hingezogen fühlt.
