Der Schularzt Hades Itsuhito ist nicht so gewöhnlich, wie man es von solch einer Person erwartet. Die meisten Schüler der Middle-School verbreiten das Gerücht, dass er ein Shinigami ist. Er erschrickt die Schüler mit seinem furchteinflößenden Gesicht und seiner fast schon übertriebenen Freundlichkeit. Doch als die drei Jungen Ashitaba, Mimasaka und Fuji ins Krankenzimmer müssen, sehen sie seine wahre Seite. Hades jagt und zerstört »Byoumas«, die von Menschen Besitz ergreifen und ihnen ihren Willen aufzwingen.

Itsuhito Hades è il bizzarro professore che accoglie gli studenti dell’istituto Tokofushi nella piccola infermeria scolastica. Ma è anche molto di più: se non fosse per lui, infatti, i terribili "Byouma", i demoni della malattia, avrebbero già falcidiato la scuola… del resto, ci sarà un motivo per cui il preside ha voluto uno Shinigami in infermeria!
