Taiga hat den Großteil seiner Erinnerungen verloren. Das Letzte, woran er sich noch entsinnen kann, ist der tragische Unfall, bei dem seine Eltern ums Leben kamen. Seitdem lebt er mit seiner Schwester Tsubame zusammen. Wie sich später herausstellt, ist diese eine Außerirdische mit dem Auftrag ihn zu beschützen, da er das sogenannte »Origin Heart« besitzt.
