Youji Takashima ist vernarrt in seine große, 26 Jahre alte Schwester Senko. Weil er gar nicht genug Zeit mit ihr verbringen kann, leben die beiden sogar zusammen. Eines Tages stellt Senko ihrem Bruder einen alten Freund vor. Sein Name ist Ren und Youji kann ihn vom ersten Augenblick an nicht wirklich leiden, denn er denkt, dass Ren seine Schwester heiraten will. Kurze Zeit später erfährt Youji aber den wahren Grund für das Erscheinen dieses so verhassten Mannes: Senko möchte nach New York, um beruflich voranzukommen. Von nun an müssen Ren und Youji miteinander auskommen und zusammenleben.

trigger warning: adultery and sexual assault
I've read this manga series about seven years ago and gave it a high rating with 4.5 stars, which is why I decided to reread it.
The art style took some getting used to, it is very old and I don't like it (though it gets better).
The younger character is in the middle of puberty and prone to emotional outbursts and behaving impulsively, while the romantic rival Hirose is really a self-centered prick who has screw loose and the romantic interest Ren is a timid idiot without any self-worth. However, it's the usual drama most teenagers and young people go through, finding yourself and learning about relationships and the world is always difficult. Though Ren is depicted as an adult, he still has a lot to learn and some growing up to do and is very immature. Honestly, I had some issues with both Ren's and Youji's behaviour.

What I absolutely despised was how this manga dealt with the sexual assault. There were no consequences the rapist had to face, the victim had no lasting trauma and the people close to the victim also overcame it easily.

He gets drugged, bound and raped... and somehow no one (the victim, his friend, his partner, the partner of the rapist) wants to report it, no one has a trauma, no one has any lasting effect. It kinda gets shrugged off. That makes me really truly angry.

The highest I can rate this is 2.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but there were too many issues than annoyed me: the sleeping around, how Youji is depicted as strong and loyal while I saw him more as a doormat with strong convictions, how the detail that one is a minor is never a serious issue, how much importance is given to penetrative sex, and then there was the rape. Mostly I got annoyed by Ren's and Youji's behaviour.

Interesting how much one's rating can differ from day to day and even more so over longer periods of time.
