Die Geschichte spielt in Tokio im Jahr 2039. Als der unbekannte Virus »Lost Christmas« 2029 ausbricht, ist Japan unter der Kontrolle der Organisation namens GHQ. Ohma Shu ist ein 17-jähriger Junge, der übersinnliche Kräfte in seiner rechten Hand besitzt. Er kann diese Macht benutzen, um Werkzeuge oder Waffen seiner Freunde auszuwählen. In seiner Vergangenheit hat er es stets vermieden, seinen Mitmenschen Ärger zu bereiten, jedoch ändert sich sein Leben schlagartig, als er das Mädchen Yuzuriha Inori trifft. Sie ist ein Mitglied der Widerstandsgruppe »Undertaker«, in der Piloten von Kampfmechas gegen die Regierung kämpfen.
