China nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Enttäuscht muss der junge Soldat Jet einsehen, dass sich trotz des Sieges nichts geändert hat. In seiner Heimatstadt herrschen Not und Armut, auf den Straßen bieten sich hungrige Kinder zum Verkauf an, amerikanische Soldaten behandeln ihre einstigen Verbündeten wie den letzten Abschaum. Bald gerät Jet mit einem hünenhaften Captain aneinander, der einen Bekannten bei einem Unfall schwer verwundet hat. Wenig später lässt er sich zu einem Boxkampf gegen den großmäuligen Bailey herausfordern, den er dank seiner schnellen Reflexe ohne Mühe gewinnt. Im Gegenzug schlägt der Amerikaner Jets Freund Zhao krankenhausreif. Jet bleibt keine andere Wahl, als einen Job als Sparringspartner anzunehmen, dabei taucht erneut der riesige Captain auf. Jet verliert die Beherrschung, es kommt zu einer Massenschlägerei. Kurz darauf entführt Bailey die Tochter Zhaos, eine ehemalige Prostituierte. Ein Rettungsversuch endet tragisch. Zhao stürzt von einer Brüstung, seine Tochter begeht unmittelbar darauf Selbstmord. Jet kommt zu spät an den Tatort und kann nurmehr bittere Rache schwören. In einer Lagerhalle kommt es schließlich zum letzten Kampf gegen Bailey und den Captain …
