Minami no Niji no Lucy (1982)

1837: The English Poppel family emigrates to Australia to make their fortune with a farm. At this time, Australia is not yet extensively populated, and civilisation is still in its infancy. Therefore, the Poppels still have to deal with all kinds of difficulties at the harbour and later in Adelaide. 6-year-old Lucy-May and her 10-year-old sister Kate don’t notice the problems of the adults. For them, Australia is a great adventure, with many unknown (and cute) animals. But they also have to realise that not everything in life is easy. The family has to give their prefabricated house to the creep Mr Paddywell and live in a tiny old house until they finally find something else. But they still haven’t given up their big dream of owning their own farm one day.

1837: Die englische Familie Poppel wandert nach Australien aus, um dort mit einer Farm ihr Glück zu machen. Australien ist zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht großflächig besiedelt und die Zivilisation ist dort erst im Entstehen. Deshalb haben die Poppels noch mit allerlei Schwierigkeiten am Hafen und später in Adelaide zu kämpfen. Die 6-jährige Lucy-May und ihre 10-jährige Schwester Kate bekommen von den Problemen der Erwachsenen nichts mit. Für sie ist Australien ein großes Abenteuer, mit vielen unbekannten (und niedlichen) Tieren. Aber auch sie müssen erkennen, dass im Leben nicht alles einfach ist. Die Familie muss ihr Fertighaus an den Fiesling Mr. Paddywell vermachen und leben erst mal in einem winzig kleinen alten Haus, bis sie schließlich etwas anderes gefunden haben. Aber noch immer haben sie ihren großen Traum, einmal eine eigene Farm zu besitzen nicht aufgegeben.
