In Rudolf der schwarze Kater verfolgen wir den kleinen Kater Rudolf, der nur einen kleinen Ausflug machen wollte und anschließend sein zu Hause nicht mehr wiederfindet. Zudem kommt es noch, dass er mit einem Lastwagen in eine ganz andere Präfektur fährt und anschließend nicht mehr weiß, was er jetzt tun soll. Dort trifft er auf den Streuner „Gibt’s viele“, der sich mit dem kleinen Kater anfreundet und ihm helfen will, wieder nach Hause zurückzukommen. Zusammen erleben die beiden gemeinsam die verschiedensten Abenteuer und treffen natürlich auf weitere Katzen und auch Hunde, die den beiden entweder freundlich oder feindlich gesinnt sind. Doch wird Rudolf es schaffen, wieder nach Hause zurückzukehren?
