Anime Description

The anime film Hakubo revolves around some young people from the Japanese town of Iwaki in Fukushima Prefecture after it was shaken by the severe Touhoku earthquake on 11 March 2011. Sachi attends the local high school and has always diligently practised playing the violin. Even after the earthquake, which hit her and her family hard, she practices day in and day out in order to be able to play in the quartet at the cultural festival of her school. Yuusuke, who fled his old home town, which became uninhabitable after the earthquake, realizes that the natural “beauty of the here and now” is fleeting and tries to capture it graphically by in his drawings.

So he draws the beautiful sunset and the peaceful landscape for the upcoming art exhibition, but when Sachi and Yuusuke meet, more than just artistic inspiration develops between them …
