The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1986)

A young girl named Dorothy has gone to live with her grandparents on their small farm. One day when Dorothy is left alone in the house a tornado appears. Dorothy fails to get to the basement in time, and the entire house is picked up and transported to a magical land, falling on and killing a wicked witch. There she is informed by a good witch that she must travel to the Capital of Emerald and meet a great magician who may be able to help her find a way home. Along the way she makes some incredible friends and sees many strange and fantastic things.

Das junge Mädchen Dorothy wird auf die Farm ihrer Großeltern geschickt, um fortan dort zu leben. Eines Tages überrascht sie ein Tornado, während sie sich alleine im Haus befindet. Sie schafft es nicht mehr rechtzeitig in den Keller zu flüchten und so wird das komplette Haus mitsamt ihr in die Luft gerissen. Es handelte sich aber nicht um einen gewöhnlichen Sturm - er transportiert sie in ein unbekanntes magisches Land, wo sie genau auf einer bösen Hexe landet und sie dadurch tötet. Eine gute Hexe hilft ihr daraufhin und schickt sie in die Hauptstadt Emerald, um einen mächtigen Magier aufzusuchen, mit dessen Hilfe sie den Weg nach Hause finden kann. Auf ihrer Reise dorthin schließt sie viele wunderbare Freundschaften und erlebt fantastische und seltsame Dinge …
