Der weiße Koala Johnny wird von den grauen Koalas aus seinem heimatlichen Wald hinausgeworfen, da er mit seiner Fellfarbe nicht mehr zu ihnen passen würde. Zum Glück finden ihn der tasmanische Teufel Hamish und sein affiger Fotograf Higgins, um ihn für den Zirkus anzuwerben. Dort geht es Johnny schon deutlich besser als in seinem Wald. Nach einem Unfall beim Transport landen Johnny und seine Freunde mitten im Kampf zwischen den Bewohnern eines Wasserlochs und einem Rudel Dingos. Während die Dingos unter dem Befehl des bösen Krokodils Bog stehen, werden die Verteidiger des Wasserlochs vom Känguru Mac und dem weiblichen Koala Miranda angeführt. Da Johnny mit seinem unfreiwilligen Kampfeintritt die Dingos in die Flucht schlägt, wird Johnny als großer Held gefeiert. Diese Niederlage wird Bog keinesfalls auf sich beruhen lassen.
