Granbelm: The Two Princeps (2019)

In the original anime “Granbelm: The Two Princeps”, we dive into a world in which magic disappeared almost a millennium ago and has been largely forgotten by humans. Mangetsu Kohinata, a cheerful and bright high school student, lives in this world, but as optimistic as she may be about her everyday life, she can’t deny that there is discomfort deep inside her … Mangetsu has nothing – nothing that distinguishes her, nothing in which she really shines, nothing … She’s neither good at school nor can she boast of athletic achievements, and so she’s all the happier about anything she can actually do herself.

On a full moon night – the sky cloudy and the moon blood-red – Mangetsu returns to school to fetch her brother’s lunch box when the world around her is suddenly shaken to its foundations. Suddenly, she is no longer in the school building of her modern world but in a castle complex in the middle of a medieval city, but the spectacle that takes place before her eyes are even more incredible – in front of her two huge robots meeting in battle …!

In dieser Welt lebt die fröhliche und aufgeweckte Oberschülerin Mangetsu Kohinata, doch so optimistisch sie auch ihren Alltag bestreiten mag, kann sie nicht abstreiten, dass tief in ihrem Inneren ein Unbehagen vorherrscht … Mangetsu hat nichts – nichts, das sie auszeichnet; nichts, worin sie wirklich brilliert; nichts … Sie ist weder gut in der Schule noch kann sie durch ihre sportlichen Leistungen glänzen und so ist sie umso faszinierter von allem, das sie wirklich selbst tun kann.

In einer Vollmondnacht – der Himmel verhangen und der Mond blutrot – begibt Mangetsu sich erneut auf den Weg in die Schule, um die Brotbüchse ihres Bruders zu holen, als die Welt um sie herum plötzlich in ihren Grundfesten erschüttert wird. Plötzlich ist sie nicht mehr im Schulgebäude ihrer modernen Welt, sondern in einer Burganlage mitten in einer mittelalterlich anmutenden Stadt, doch das Schauspiel, das sich vor ihren Augen abspielt, ist noch unglaublicher – vor ihr begegnen sich zwei riesige Roboter im Kampf …!

Nell’anime originale «Granbelm» ci immergiamo in un mondo nel quale la magia non esiste più da un millennio ed è stata dimenticata da una gran parte delle persone. In questo mondo vive la allegra e sveglia studentessa delle superiori Mangetsu Kohinata. Anche se una ragazza che cerca di vivere la quotidianità con ottimismo, non può negare di sentire nel profondo del suo essere un certo malessere. Mangetsu non ha niente – niente che la distingua, niente per qui brillare, niente. Non è eccezionalmente brava a scuola ne è molto brava nello sport. Per questo motivo si sente affascinata da tutto quello che riesce a fare da sola.

In una notte di luna piena – il cielo è coperto e la luna è rossa sangue – Mangetsu torna a scuola per ricuperare il porta-merenda del fratello. In quel momento il mondo viene scosso nelle sue fondamenta. Tutt’ad un tratto non si trova più nel edificio della scuola del suo mondo moderno, ma in un castello nel bel mezzo di una città dall’apparenza medievale. Lo spettacolo che le si offre è ancora più incredibile – davanti a lei si stanno scontrando due robot in un combattimento.
