XL Boss (2019)

“XL Boss”, the anime adaptation of Kani Itou’s manga of the same name, takes us into the world of salarywoman Saki Watase. Saki doesn’t have it easy – it’s bad enough that she’s still single despite being 26 years old and doesn’t even have a boyfriend in sight, but the fact that she is also struggling financially is even worse. In order to make some money on the side, Saki volunteers as a product tester and is promptly supplied with a package full of products that she is to thoroughly test and review. Now, that wouldn’t be a problem at all if she had received a box full of shampoo, make-up or the like, but no … Fate isn’t that kind to the single woman and instead she finds a box full of condoms for testing! And of course not just any condoms, but the XL version …!

While Saki laments her life over a beer or three and once again drinks more than she should, her superior Keisuke Sudou takes care of her. Gentleman that he is, he brings his co-worker to her apartment and just as he is about to take her to her bed, he spots the pile of XL condoms. Keisuke doesn’t beat around the bush and happily agrees to help his co-worker with her testing and reviewing. Perhaps fate is not so unkind to Saki after all, because “product testing” is much more fun with two people …!

»XL Boss«, die Anime-Adaption zu Kani Itous gleichnamigen Manga, entführt uns in die Welt der Angestellten Saki Watase. Saki hat es nicht leicht – schlimm genug, dass sie trotz ihrer 26 Jahre noch immer single ist und nicht mal einen Lebenspartner in Aussicht hat, doch, dass sie sich auch noch mit finanziellen Problemen herumärgern muss, schlägt dem Fass den Boden aus. Um sich nebenbei etwas dazuzuverdienen, meldet Saki sich also als Produkttesterin und wird auch prompt mit einem Paket voll Produkten versorgt, die sie intensiv testen und rezensieren soll. Nun wäre das ja überhaupt kein Problem, wenn sie eine Kiste voll Shampoo, Make-up oder ähnlichem erhalten hätte, aber nein … Das Schicksal meint es nicht gut mit der Single-Dame und so findet sie eine ganze Kiste voll mit Kondomen zum Testen vor sich! Und natürlich nicht irgendwelche Kondome, sondern die XL-Version …!

Während Saki bei einem Bier oder drei über ihr Leben lamentiert und wieder mal einen über den Durst trinkt, nimmt ihr Vorgesetzter Keisuke Sudou sich ihrer an. Gentleman, der er ist, bringt er seine Kollegin in ihre Wohnung und wollte sie gerade zu ihrem Bett bringen, als er den Haufen an XL-Kondomen erspäht. Keisuke fackelt dann auch nicht lang und erklärt sich kurzerhand dazu bereit, seiner Kollegin beim Testen und Rezensieren etwas zur Hand zu gehen. Vielleicht meint das Schicksal es ja doch nicht so schlecht mit Saki, denn zu zweit macht das »Produkttesten« doch gleich viel mehr Spaß …!

Von diesem Anime wurden zwei Versionen erstellt: eine harmlose Version, die im TV ausgestrahlt wurde, und eine Version mit Vollkontakt, die im Internet vermarktet wurde.
