Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan (2021)

The children’s program “Together with Maman” promises fun and games for the little rascals. However, the hosts of this show are only doing their job, and as it is in everyday work, you put on a friendly smile every now and then, even when the mood is at its lowest or when you don’t want to go along with every nonsense. Above all, Uramichi Omota, a former gymnast who is now proving his skills on the children’s show, has a little hard time keeping his true emotions under wraps. At least in front of his work colleagues, he makes no secret of the fact that he is not always in the best of moods.

While Uramichi is the “Gymnast Oniisan” among the hosts, Utano Tadano is the “Singer Oneesan” and Iketeru Daga is the “Singer Oniisan”. Tobikichi Usahara and Mitsuo Kumatani, who slip into a rabbit or a bear costume during their performances, are a bit intimidated by Uramichi and can at least avoid eye contact with him when they are wearing their costumes – even outside of the show. “Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan” is an anime full of dark comedy!

Die Kindersendung »Together with Maman« verspricht Spiel und Spaß für die kleinen Racker. Die Gastgeber dieser Sendung machen jedoch nur ihren Job, und wie das im Arbeitsalltag so ist, setzt man ab und zu ein freundliches Lächeln auf, auch wenn die Laune gerade am Tiefpunkt ist oder man nicht jeden Blödsinn mitmachen möchte. Vor allem Uramichi Omota, ein ehemaliger Turner, der seine Fähigkeiten nun in der Kindersendung unter Beweis stellt, tut sich etwas schwer damit, seine wahren Emotionen unter Verschluss zu halten. Zumindest vor seinen Arbeitskollegen macht er keinen Hehl daraus, nicht immer in allerbester Stimmung zu sein.

Während Uramichi der »Turnonkel« unter den Gastgebern ist, ist Utano Tadano die »Liedertante« und Iketeru Daga der »Liederonkel«. Tobikichi Usahara und Mitsuo Kumatani, die bei ihren Auftritten in ein Hasen- bzw. ein Bärenkostüm schlüpfen, sind von Uramichi etwas eingeschüchtert und können zumindest den Augenkontakt mit ihm vermeiden, wenn sie ihre Kostüme anhaben – auch abseits der Sendung. »Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan« ist ein Anime voll mit schwarzem Humor!
